Why the hard jobs come to us

We read the engineering, then build to it exactly

The work Apex is built around. Underpinning, structural repairs, foundation stabilisation and retaining walls, designed by registered structural engineers and built exactly to that design.

Our director is civil engineering qualified, so a structural report is read properly rather than guessed at or worked around. Registered structural engineers assess the movement and design the fix, certification and sign-off are provided independently, and Apex builds to that design exactly. One point of contact stays accountable from the first site visit to handover.

A real job, real numbers

The job three other builders would not take on

The homeowners had already been told by other builders that the movement and cracking in their home meant demolition was the only option. Apex took a different approach: a full structural assessment by a registered engineer came first, before anything was quoted. That assessment found the foundation could be stabilised with an engineered underpinning solution rather than a full rebuild. Because the builder read the engineering rather than working around it, there was no gap between the design and how it was carried out on site, and no guesswork. Certification was provided independently. The result: the home was stabilised, the occupants stayed safe throughout, and the existing structure was preserved.

Planned vs actual timeline

14 weeks
Actual
17 weeks

Additional soil movement was found once excavation began, requiring redesigned pier depths and an extra 2 weeks of remediation. Engineered steel bearers were delayed a further week by a supplier backlog. Council also raised one request for additional structural certification that we had not anticipated, adding another week.

How we build

Every stage, before it happens

We meet on site, walk through what you want and what the site will and will not allow, and if there is any sign of structural movement, cracking or subsidence, we arrange a registered structural engineer to assess it before anything is quoted. We ask direct questions because a vague brief kills a budget, and we do not pitch magic or promise the impossible.

Initial Consultation and Structural Assessment

We meet on site, walk through what you want and what the site will and will not allow, and if there is any sign of structural movement, cracking or subsidence, we arrange a registered structural engineer to assess it before anything is quoted. We ask direct questions because a vague brief kills a budget, and we do not pitch magic or promise the impossible.

Planning and Detailed Quotation

We prepare a comprehensive quotation covering scope, specifications, inclusions, timelines and pricing, and coordinate architects, engineers, surveyors and other consultants where the project needs them.

Design and Approvals

We manage council applications, CDC approvals, engineering certifications and any other authority requirements the project needs, keeping you informed as each approval progresses.
